'Make a Teapot' at the Yarley Studio

This is a 2 session course on one weekend.  In the first session we will design the shape of the teapot in an initial session before throwing the bodies of the teapots, lids and spouts on the wheel.  The pieces will be dried to leather hard overnight.

The following day, we will turn the leather hard pieces and assemble the teapot ready for bisque firing.  At the stage some underglaze or slip decoration can be done.  The teapot will then be fired and glazed in transparent or shiny white glaze to be returned to you within 3-4 weeks. Both sessions are 3.5 hours long.  Participants must come to both sessions to finish their teapots. Payment for both needs to be made up front.  Some throwing skills are needed to get the most from the workshop.

Day 1: Design of the teapot followed by throwing of the teapot body, spouts and lids.

Day 2: Turning of the leather-hard parts, thrown in the previous week, as well as pulling a handle and  making a knob.  The teapot will be assembled.  If  time is permitting, some slip or underglaze decoration can be done in this session.  

The day will be from 11am to 2.30pm on Saturday and Sunday. Participants will need to be available for both dates of the course.  Re-scheduling is not possible as the sessions are linked. 

Cost includes 1 tea pot glazed in transparent or opaque glossy white glaze.  This can be collected up to 3-4 weeks later.  Hot drinks and cake will be provided but please bring a sandwich to eat during the session.
